Celestron Telescopes

Celestron telescopes are best recognized by their orange optical tubes. They are great telescopes that help you find thousands of stars, planets, galaxies, and more at the touch of a button.

The NexStar SE Family of Celestron telescopes include many state-of-the-art features. For example, a fully computerized operating system, flash-upgradeable hand control, superior coatings, a unique software controlled alignment system called SkyAlign. The system requires 8 AA batteries that don't come in the box. This can get a little expensive (to be buying batteries all the time but the fun you have with it may outweigh that.

With the NexStar SE, choose an object from the menu and the telescope will find it for you. How cool is that?! Using its patented NexStar technology, the SE scopes can find and identify nearly 40,000 objects. All you have to do is look through the eyepiece and enjoy the view. No folks, it doesn't get any easier than this.

So what do you choose to view? Mmmmm, just allow the NexStar SE to give you a guided tour of the night sky. The "Tour" feature has a customized list of the best objects in the sky to view. Just plug in your exact time and location anywhere in the world and voila!

Your NexStar SE can find objects and it can teach you about them as well. Perfect for beginners who need lots of help. The information on the most popular objects can be seen in the LCD screen on your hand control unit.

Celestron telescopes in general are built with the learner in mind but with the professional features a more experienced amateur astronomer would want to have. The unit is portable too.

It used to be hard to set up and assemble telescopes before the celestron came along with its Skyalign system. The Celestron NexStar SE telescope can now be set up in a matter of minutes with no tools required.

Input the date, time, and location into the hand control, then point the telescope at any three bright celestial objects and the telescope does the rest on autopilot. No need to know the names of the stars; just pick the moon or any bright planets.

You can also update your telescope's software via the Internet. How much easier can it get? If you're looking for a great scope for young astronomers, the Celestron telescopes will fill the need quite nicely.

Once you see "THE SKY" Planetarium software - with 10,000-object database, printable sky maps, and enhanced images, you will need to own a Celestron like this.

You can also download the Celestron NexStar 4SE Instruction Manual online. It's perfect for astrophotography , viewing galaxies and star clusters, viewing nebulae, the Moon and the planets in our solar system.

Celestrons have a limited two-year warranty upon purchase but you can ask for an extended warranty as well. Make no mistake. This telescope is great for the beginner but is most often used by professionals because of its ease of use and built-in features that save so much time.

At 21 lbs, it isn't the lightest telescope you can find but once you get it set up, you'll forget its 21 pound load.

It has an aperture of 102mm and a focal length of 325 mm with a focal ratio set at f/13. There is only one eyepiece at 25mm E-Lux (53x)and its highest useful magnification is 240x.

All in all, this is an excellent-quality highly portable telescope that is ready to use in minutes - not hours.

The 4-inch Maksutov-Cassegrain optics on the Celestron telescope gives extremely sharp and clear images too.
