Orion Telescopes

Orion offers a wide range of quality telescopes for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced user. You might recognize some of the more popular names like Newtonians, Maksutovs, Schmidt-Cassegrains, and the orion refractor telescopes that are available with or without various mounts. While some of the telescopes are made for stargazing; others do extremely well when used for viewing nature.

Orion refractor telescopes work well for astronomers and for nature lovers. Refractor telescopes are often used for getting crisp high-contrast images that are ideal for observing bright bodies like the Moon, most planets, and other celestial bodies. The low-priced refractors from Orion are very handy, easy to use, and need almost zero maintenance. Special types of glass with multiple-lens designs are often used in short refractors - the favorite of astro-photographers.

Dobsonian telescopes from Orion are available in the Classic and IntelliScope varieties. IntelliScope from Orion is an upgrade with advanced accessories and a computerized database of the object that can automatically point out objects of interest for ease of viewing.

The SkyQuest XT10 IntelliScope from Orion offers unique light grasping as well as deep space performance. For this reason it has become popular for big-aperture, computerized astronomy. In its latest version, you can locate more than 14000 celestial objects with the Orion SkyQuest XT10 very quickly because of its 10"-Dobsonian reflector with a built-in IntelliScope object-locating algorithm. This powerful light-gathering ability makes the XT10 perfect for capturing deep space objects not normally visible with ordinary telescopes. You can observe the spherical and open star clusters, binary stars, and galaxies in minute detail with the XT10.

Orion offers a series of two-element apochromatic (apo) refractors with 'extra low dispersion' fluorite crown glass present in one element of objective lens. This series is available in the high performance end range of Orion.

Manual-powered telescopes from Orion consume less power than the motorized ones. These scopes have a tube and a base to assemble. These types of technically superior telescopes with excellent optical qualities are affordable to most.

The optical system of this telescope consists of a Newtonian reflector optical tube with 10" aperture Newtonian optics and a 1200 focal length. The focal ratio is f/4.7. The durable rolled optical tube is made of steel - 47.25" in length and 12" in diameter and weighs only 29 lbs. It is easy to carry and assemble as and when needed. The navigation knob helps you to move the telescope easily around the skies guided by the IntelliScope object-locating computer.

Some other telescopes from Orion include the Orion StarBlast 4.5 EQ Telescope, the Orion SkyQuest XT4.5, the Dobsonian Telescope, the Orion SkyQuest XT12 IntelliScope Telescope, the Orion StarMax 127mm EQ Compact Mak Telescope, and others.
